With her purple, lavendar, & white pedals as well as golden yellow center crown, the Rocky Mountain Columbine (Aquilegia caerules) is dressed like royalty & deserves the title Queen of the Rockies. This cluster was growing beautifully, despite a hot, dry start to summer in the Mosquito Range's Evans Gulch. Lake County, Colorado, USA.
Jeremy Rhoades grew up at 10,400' among the 14ers of the Sawatch Range, Colorado's highest mountains. In his late 20's, he relocated to Alaska in order to fulfill a life-long obsession with "BIG" mountains and extreme snowfall & temperatures. Photography was the way for Jeremy to share the towering mountains of Alaska and a unique, almost surreal light in the northern latitudes. Jeremy has moved back to Colorado & continues to share his love of high altitudes, as mountain landscapes are the clear focus of his work. He hopes you will enjoy the many scenes made available here.
